Report: Hyundai’s new luxury brand, Genesis, to launch all- electric vehicle in near future

Hyundai has some really big things planned for their all-
new Genesis luxury sub-brand, including the launch of
an all-electric sedan in the near future, which is likely
to compete with one of the entrants from Tesla.
Word came from Hyundai Motor’s senior vice president,
Manfred Fitzgerald, at a recent conference at the
Busan Auto Show in South Korea. Part of this desire to
make a luxury EV stems from the still-existing
perception that “full electric cars will be the future in
the auto industry.”
Specifics are not quite available just yet as the project
is still in its early stages. But if anything. lead designer
Luc Donckerwolke, Hyundai’s senior vice president at
their in-house Hyundai Design Center said Genesis
vehicles will clearly look different from their lesser
Hyundai cousins.
The new Genesis EV was part of Hyundai’s latest plan
to launch a massive product offensive, beginning with
the new G90 replacing the Hyundai Equus, the Hyundai
Genesis sedan being renamed to the Genesis G80, and
a new G70 is on the way to take on the BMW 3-Series,
Audi A4, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
