Ex-Barcelona star Daniel Alves confirms Juventus move, vows return

Daniel Alves has confirmed he will join Italian
champions Juventus after eight trophy-filled seasons
at Barcelona.
Alves posted a goodbye message to his social media
followers on Thursday amid reports suggesting the 33-
year-old right-back was set to sign with the
Bianconeri.
Shortly after Alves' message, Barcelona issued their
own formal goodbye to the Brazilian, who they signed
from Sevilla in the summer of 2008.

Speaking to Sportitalia on Friday, the Brazil
international said he is "happy" to be joining the Turin
giants.
"I am always happy, but I am even happier now," Alves
said. "I am very happy to join Juventus."
Juventus raced to their fifth consecutive Serie A title
this campaign despite the departures of stars Andrea
Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez -- a trio who'd
helped the club to the 2014 Champions League final in
Berlin, where they fell to Alves' Barcelona 3-1.
Massimiliano Allegri's side boast some of world
football's brightest young talents in the form of France
midfielder Paul Pogba, Argentina forward Paulo Dybala
and Brazil winger Alex Sandro. Alves said he is eager
to help The Old Lady reach the summit of European
football.
"I want to win in Europe and in Italy," Alves said. "I
have won a lot of trophies with Barcelona, but the time
has come to enjoy Italy and to try to bring Juventus
back to the European top."
Alves, though, reiterated his vow to someday return to
Barca.
"But it is more of a see you later than a farewell with
Barcelona," he added. "Sooner or later I will return to
Barcelona. I am still a fan of Barca."
