Hi.. this is Emostel and I just want to make common sense!
Since both www.nou.edu.ng and www.nouonline.com are both down at the moment, I just believe that they will eventually put everything together under www.nou.edu.ng cos that is the required standard for a school website especially a tertiary institution.
.com is for commercial websites
.net is for some kind of networks
.tv is for television stations and online tv
.gov is for government institutions, offices, sectors, and programs
Almost all universities and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria use .edu.ng
As for me, I just believe that it is better to be patient for the school as all they are doing now is to standardize the whole process to give you itch free web experience. When change is about to happen, there surely will be some ups and downs.. but after some time, the system will stabilize and everything will be fine. Nigerians do not want to suffer at all... but they quickly forget that that _*even Gold has to pass through fire before it starts to shine*_.
As far as you are seeing the rate of their progress and its not like they are not doing anything at all.. you should just exercise some patience. at least they have postponed the exams till June just to make sure that their issues would not affect you and now they have opened the site where you can download your materials and have access to information pending when the real site will eventually come up after all work is completed on it.. so what else do u want again? At least all they are doing is for your good! Don't blame them.. the whole system is already messed up from the onset and if they have to do anything, u must suffer first before u enjoy.
Before Oshodi Market in Lagos became as free and fair as it is now.. Fashola destroyed it.. many market women suffered.. many people were against him.. many people cursed and complained.. but alas! there was a beautiful traffic-free Oshodi with traffic lights, tiled roads and full security plus camera and heavily reduced crime rate. Guys.. wake up!
What this new VC is doing now is what is supposed to have been done by other previous VC's years back. It is not good for an external body to run a university site. Obviously, there will surely be some "mago mago" and some other underground runs.. _don't forget this is Nigeria_ and moreso, these people are eating bastard money! Finally, it is a big slap on the school with professors and big named people in science and technology to be giving out websites to outsiders to build for them... then what are they teaching? Try to consider all these and reason from their point of view. This new VC is trying to make some useful change in the system.. u should all keep cool and allow him to work.
If they do not release nouonline.com to all of you, they may not be able to detect their issues. Someone who designs something might not identify all his odds until an outsider goes through it or uses it before he detects other errors. During the period that nouonline,com was released, the school has obviously come across several bugs as detected and complained by the students and they are just gonna put everything in place in the upcoming release and it will be just fine. As a matter of fact, do not be surprised if they still go off again after this next release. The process will continue till everything is fully standardized and there are no more issues.
*For now:*
(1) Don't pay any money into the school portal even if you have the RRR already
(2) Download course materials and get other info from www.nouedu.net pending when the school
portal will be completed and finally open
(3) Look regularly into the temporary site for any latest update and information
(4) Those that are yet to pay their school fees should take this as an opportunity to hustle for cash.. do not relax.. keep the heat on and work as if the portal is gonna close this week. If you relax now, u may be surprised that u still will not meet up even when the portal is reopened next year.
(5) Start preparing for your exams even as it has been postponed till June cos they may come up with another surprise again and do not be caught unawares.. besides, June is around the corner and before you open your eyes, it is already here.
(6) Nothing like login or logout or whatever with this temporary site so do not waste your time
(7) As _Journey walker_ says.. *"Keep walking"* and as Liverpool says.. *"Never walk alone"* Keep these two rules in your NOUN experience and just like a _Warri man_ *you will never carry last!*
