Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic believes Jose Mourinho is one of the best managers in the world and has urged Manchester United fans to give him time.
The 53-year-old was handed the reins at Old Trafford this summer after being out of footballfollowing his sacking from Chelsea back in December 2015.
It hasn’t been an easy ride so far for Mourinho at Old Trafford, with the boss under pressure for results already following a series of poor performances.
But Bosnian ‘keeper Begovic, who was signed by Mourinho for Chelsea in July 2015, believes the Portuguese is the right man for the job.
Speaking to talkSPORT’s Ian Abrahams at a charity event last night, Begovic said: “You expect teething problems, he’s going into a club I’m sure he wants to make changes.
“Any manager going is going to try and put a stamp on the club, it takes time.
“Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool has taken a bit of time and with us [under new Blues boss Antonio Conte] it’s still a work in progress – we’re getting better each and every week.”
Mourinho recently described his current living arrangements in Manchester as "a disaster", saying he is finding it hard to adjust to living away from his family for the first time.
But Begovic has no doubt of Mourinho’s qualities as a manger and expects an upturn in the Special One’s fortunes.
“It’ll take time but listen, he’s quality,” he added.
“He's one of the best managers in the world so I’m sure everything will work out just fine.”
