THE DAY I WAS BORN
The day I was born
The heavens blew its horn
The earth witnessed the dawn of a new age
History flipped open a new page
The ladies sang and danced
melodiously in ebullience
The men broke kola
And took turns in sipping _Sapele Water_
Now *liquor* in modern lingua
Momma always held me to her bosom
Singing lullaby in loving piquancy
Until her lulling voice drifts me to slumber
The flow of daily manna
Sizzling from her bosom
Makes me close my eyes
Savouring the delicacy
I could spend eternity
Gazing into her eyes
without blinking
The first time I did
was the genesis of my pseudonym
For she shouted
"And *Lheezy Blinks*"
The first time momma spanked me
I knew I had provoked her wrath
But she always prayed I be not a brat
Momma would be gone
But her love in my heart
Remains fresh as a new born.
Dad always carried me
When he returns
from searching for daily bread
The first man I fell in love with
A man no man can beat
He never lavished so much a time on me
But the little he did
Leaves me with nostalgia
Dad would be gone
But his love in me
Would be as the blowing of a horn
