LATE MR. NIGHT
Dried dews, yawning mouth,
Fainted sun, swinging head,
Swollen eyes, blinking lashes,
Often stretches, noisy bones like
that of an old man who walked
from Kanu to Kanu.
The dark revealed its make-up,
Painted the light off the sky and
buried us in the dark shadows.
Tick Tock! Tick Tock!
Time beep,
Crawling like sluggish tortoise,
Considering our days in the dark,
We hopefully spied through the
half door hung above our bedside,
Hoping bitter kola turns chocolate.
Abort O’ hideous night;
We hunger for the birth of a new
dawn cause you invoke tied lips
and dark dreams.
Resurrect O’ dearest morning,
You left us without a notice like
the night passed a quick noticed,
Even the sun bleed tears as you
left us afloat. Now I ask;
Has your sense of sympathy been
shattered by the inhuman night?
The birds echoes in songs,
Sounds of joy, sweet songs of joy,
Drink from the gallon of victory,
Darkness lost its fight against light,
The moon and stars frowned.
Celebrations! Celebrations!
Let the earth yawn laughter to
a dawn free from ugly smiles,
A dawn to shelter
Hope to the hopeless,
Provision to the needy,
Condolence to mourners
and love to a broken heart.
O’ beautiful morning;
I hope you won’t starve us from light?
I believe you will fulfil scripture,
Bring to us bountiful reasons to
sing in songs of funeral service,
Saying 'Farewell Late Mr. Night'.
