*HOW TO MAKE PAYMENT INTO YOUR PORTAL *

1. Log in to your portal with your matric number and password.

2. Once you are into your portal, check on the left hand side and observe the red tabs. Click on the second tab labelled as *"Make payment on Remita"* and a new page will open.

3. Scroll down the Remita page and look out for a box. In the box, type in the amount of money you wish to pay into your portal. E.g. if you wish to pay N50,000 just type 50000 (don't put a comma).

4. Click on the button below the box. The button is titled *"Generate Remita Payment Reference"*

5. Allow it to load and then a message will show at the bottom of the page, showing your RRR Code and further instructions to be followed after. (NOTE: RRR means "Remita Retrieval Reference")

6. Write down the code and walk into ANY commercial bank you find around. (Most banks will accept Remita payments).

7. Getting to the bank, pick up a teller and fill accordingly. Put your own name as the depositor's name. (If you are paying on behalf of anyone or you sent anyone to the bank to pay for you, you must ensure that the depositor's name is the name of the student that the money is being paid for). The account name is National Open University of Nigeria or you simply write NOUN. There is no need to put any account number. You may use any phone number (preferably the phone number of the person that is physically present at the bank to pay the money...so that if there is any issue whatsoever, the person will be called). On the teller, at the top corner, write "Registration" followed by the RRR code e.g. Registration: A1249368546 (this indicates that you are a student who wishes to pay for semester registration and that is your RRR code). This is necessary because it is not only registration that is paid for in NOUN using the RRR...some people pay for some other things like IT/SIWES etc while new applicants pay for Application (N5,000).

8. Once the transaction is complete, your teller will be stamped and you will be given a printout which contains your payment information and other details.

9. Usually, within at most 15 minutes, the money you paid would have reflected in your portal.

10. If the money does not reflect in your portal after the anticipated period, wait for the rest of the day. Sometimes, issues with the network or system may cause delays. After the payment day or later that day, check again. If the money is still not loaded yet, then log into your portal and on the red tabs at the right hand side, click on *"Load Remita Payment"*. A page will open. Allow the page to load. It will then show the list of all your Remita transactions. At the end of every successful transaction, it will write *"Transaction approved"* and at the end of every uncleared transactions, it will write *"Transaction Pending"*. In front of the pending transaction, click on *"Retry"* and allow it to load. While loading, the system will verify the payment and if it is affirmed, it will write *"Transaction Approved"* and the money will become eventually loaded into your portal.

NOTE:
- It is important to note that the moment you pay into the portal, your compulsory fee for that semester is automatically removed. The balance will then remain in your portal of which you can register all your courses and exams as far as the balance can cover.

- It is very necessary to KEEP ALL PAYMENT RECEIPTS that has to do with any transaction with the school. If you are fund of misplacing them always, you are urged to form the habit of keeping them henceforth. Sooner, you will realize the essence, especially at the point of graduation from the school.
